If you press record before the GPS has got an accurate fix, then anything can happen.

 

roughly GPS searching:

accuracy @ 10seconds - 10km

accuracy @ 20seconds - 1km

accuracy @ 30seconds - 100m

accuracy @ 40seconds - 10m

Accuracy is Also dependant on how you have set your Garmin device.

I'm trying to make sense of an anomaly on my girlfriend's Strava on her Samsung A3.

When we do Park runs her strava usually reads about 8-9km for a 5km run.

Mine is bang on the 5km zone for the run (Using Samsung A7)

 

Then when she goes out for a cycle with me, her Strava reads much more accurately and usually about 20-50m difference in a 30km ride.

 

We've tried re-installing strava, clearing cache and putting off battery saving mode, etc.

nothing seems to sort out her running Strava gremlins.
