Hi

I recently installed a Hope press fit BB, but seems I need spacers to be able to use Sram GX crank.

Cost of spacers are R250 each, plus delivery cost!

Anybody with different solution for this problem?post-80426-0-17912500-1528286283_thumb.jpeg

I am also a bit confused.  Is the frame PF41 or BB30 and what is the crank spindle size?

If your Hope BB is PF41 for 24mm Shimano crank you should be able to convert it to to fit a Sram GXP 24/22 mm crank by replacing the left 6805 bearing with an Enduro 2237 bearing for about R150.

It seems as if the Hope BB is a BB30 type BB and the "spacers" that you are referring to is actually a GXP BB conversion kit.

It won't be BB30, it'll be 24mm for Shimano, Raceface, etc. GXP is 24 RHS and 22 LHS, so you need a reducer on the left hand bearing to fit a GXP crankset.

My bad, seems the spacer kit is a separate item.

Sorry OP, you're in for some more cash. But considering what the Hope BB and installation go for, it's not really that much in the greater scheme of things...

Thanks for feedback. Yes unfortunately to be bought seperately.

I have the PF41 pess fit BB.

Strange, as I think quite a lot of guys will use Sram GXP cranks currently.

Will be doing the Waterberg Encounter this weekend, looks like I need to take the Hope BB out again and put back the old Sram BB. Will not have spacers in time. :cursing:

This is my situation on my bike. Have the GXP conversion kit installed with it. Maybe try and source one of those as to my knowledge are universally the same

Edit - Also might be cheaper to just get a GXP BB86 *Just a thought

Anyone looking to upgrade their BB should have a look at the Wheels Manufacturing BB's. Really nice kit and comes with all the neccessary spacers.

There are a few of these conversions that allow you to screw together a "press fit" BB.  Wheels, Praxis,Token and even SRAM themselves.  The initial cost is more than the usual press fit but thereafter you can just replace the bearings.  By fitting and leaving the cups in place you reduce wear on the frame and largely eliminate creaking.  You may need tools to fit them - eg Parktool BBT-29 for the Wheel's one.
