Hi everyone! Is the scott spark rc 900 comp and option for absa cape epic? I am new in MTB . The bike weights 12.3 kg i know its little heavy because of the light Alloy frame. But i wanted to know if it is really make the diference 1,5 kg . Thats the bike i have, but know im starting to have some doubts about weight for the absa cape epic race. And i dont have to much money to upgrated. I think if im in excelent shape, is not such a probleme.

Want your opinion. Thanks

So u new to the Mtb and the epic is you first stage race? Yip everything that’s right with the sport summed up.

The bike should work fine, see it done on single speed already, you can look at changing the rims that may lighten it up.

I’m sure for that money u can get a momsen that will be around the 11.5kg mark.

It'll be perfectly fine Ludo. That is a very nice bike. It has been done on heavier bikes, singlespeed bikes, rigid bikes, fat bikes and hardtails.

I would suggest that you get a lekker training program going, and go for skills training.

It would be better if you know how to handle technical terrain. Especially if you are new to mtb.

Y will run 2 stage races before cape epic. Y run Ironman distances 70.3 and i am well trained. But i need to train a lot on MTB technical terrain

It's not about the bike.... You'll be fine

Bike is fine. Make sure you sign up for a good maintenance package for during the event. Spend more time training than you think you will need. Agree with PhilipV, go for skills training

The RC Comp will be a fine choice.

We rode 910's this year and my bike weighed 14kg 's .... and still we had a lot of fun. We saw quite a few Spark RC's during the race.

At the end of the day it will all come down to how much you would like to spend.
