Dude, I have been saying this for years. I even, at own expense ran a campaign about it #ConsiderateCycling Gave away Garmin Varia prizes and all.

Do you know who shot it down the most? People on the Hub!!! Only people who really helped was BDF (RIP dude) Gerald and the Wheelers and the guys behind @mybicyclesafety who still need to claim their Varia I promised them.

Maybe the timing is a bit better and I should run it again.

Anytime trying is better than not trying at all.

There is a lot of "you need to change" and "if they do the right thing, so shall I" in society these days, and seeing this (and also practising it myself) is starting to make me more and more aware that "the other people" won't change.

Every commute to work and home leave me frustrated as, whether I ask politely/point out/shout/curse/whatever,  people still do as they please. Which is why I am willing to consider a completely different approach. Instead of  highlighting bad behaviour (for which I'll likely earn a middle phalanx salute), I'm gonna try to reward good behaviour. Roll my window down or stop my bike to say something positive to the motorist or cyclist doing something/anything which suggest consideration of others' safety.

Maybe somebody clever enough will come up with a more tangible reward system for good/safe actions and behaviour. (like Patch  :whistling: )

Either way, to everybody else on the road I am "you". And if "you" need to change "your attitude", that means I need to do it. I shall and am willing to start, even only for my own sanity.

(Maybe the odd thumbs down if someone does something extremely stupid...)

Any takers? :)

Awesome love the idea! Please do it! I’ve been pleading for years!

Positive reinforcement of good driver behavior was one of the main objectives of the #ConsiderateCycling campaign!
