DJR here, DJR there

I keep my posts on the 4x4 forum strictly 4x4 related because there are some very angry grumpy unhappy types around who will jump at the slightest opportunity to fight and belittle others. (Much worse than here on the BikeHub).

But then, there are some incredibly knowledgeable people who will freely share and give good advice when you need it. I have used it for advice when planning overlanding trips as well as for technical questions. When one of their members get into trouble with a broken down vehicle, or just badly bogged down, they pull together and help each other like no other community I have ever come across.

Ja nee kyk.....Bikehub is rather mature in comparison....

That said, all the interaction I've had with members thus far has been absolutely great.

It's me!

Plenty of amazing people over that side as there are here on thehub, naturally there are also sh#tstirrers and angry people, which I suppose is the same situation with the people you encounter in real life, take it all with a pinch of salt and a smile [emoji106]

4x4 forum is interesting, always some project or DIY mission on the go, as with bikehub lots to learn and not just about the main subject of the forum.

..................... there are also sh#tstirrers and angry people.................

You just have to post on the 4x4 Forum about how totally pissed off you are because two arsehole cyclists, dressed up like clowns, rode 2 abreast and delayed your trip to the mall by 30 seconds! THEN you will see the crazies come out of the woodwork.

It is guaranteed that before 10 reply posts, there will be at least 1 fantasizing about running right  over the inconsiderate cyclists. Before that, there will be at least 2 posts about licence fees and how bicycles should not be allowed on the road at all because we don't pay. Also, about how angry they get when a cyclist they nearly ran over had the temerity to shout at them and gave them the middle finger - another offence deemed punishable by crushing between a wall and a monster truck.

I've seen those fireworks displays, from a distance. I don't even bother to engage, you can't reason with crazy unless you are prepared to stoop to that level.

I also go as far as possible out of my way not to ride on roads because having a 1 ton battering ram(potentially piloted by a lunatic) driving next to my puny little bag of bones is not my idea of fun nor odds I'm willing to chance.

But there definitely seem to be more manne on 4x4, the kind of guy who want to escalate everything to a physical confrontation, probably why the moderation is so strict over there. 10% of the forum posts are probably "This post has been deleted by Dirk" :D

Exactly why I didn't start a ''The 4x4Community Bikehub thread"

We can sometimes be rather abrasive here too, but usually it is more like siblings fighting over what wheel size it the best, nothing serious :whistling:

For.......?

Trolling with a clone.

Was fun while lasted

I met some awesome guys on that forum and hopefully ill have some free time again one day for a few trails.

But man I've seen some racist at that place , on a good day they will put an AWb meeting to shame.

But I haven't been there in probably 3 years so things have hopefully changed for the better

Hahahaha, that probably wouldn't have gone down quite the same. I've also seen the wilddog motorbike forum guys complaining about the 4x4 aggro.

But, but, isn't cyclists the problem then, I mean, cycling on tar/gravel roads without being licensed and worst of all, with pants like a ballet dancer. [emoji850][emoji6][emoji23]

I’m PhlippieV there.

I joined to do some research on bakkies when I bought my first Ranger a couple of years ago. Stayed for the diy camp and electrickery threads when we started camping and touring a lot.

Now I read it for the fireworks and the occasional build thread. Interesting place, will tear at each other's throats, and then when something happens to someone then everyone bands together to help that person out.
