and if you are lucky enough to be doing the Epic in a camper van, then do not expect to get electricity as part of that deal. Generators were broken 90% of the time. In general, organisation was terrible.

Personally though MtbCpt...why would you want to take the camper van option? I mean, in my mind, a huge part of the Epic experience that adds to the adventure...is the camping in tents.

The suspense is eating away at me...! I hope Kevin and his team are working around the clock to get those results out because Tuesday can't come any sooner!!!!!!

the novelty of the "adventure" had worn out for my 60 year old partner - understandable, I think.

I noticed the masseur is thrown in as well!

A 400 pound Zulu that can crush a can with her head and open beer bottles with her eye sockets.

"Pretty, but tough....."

One massage please....

Organisation was pretty good, food was pretty good. Nothing to complain about from that point of view.

I just don't like the race itself. The courses are long for the sake of being long, they're pretty bloody boring as well. Could probably have ridden most of it on a cyclo cross bike, except for that climb on day 2, although most walked anyway. All  the things about riding that I don't really like all that much. Oh well.

2008 was opfok for the sake of it.

I think they pretty much hit the limit of what people are willing to endure because there was alot of negative feedback around the route this year. It's gradually builtup to a point where people started to snap.

After the 7th stage I went straight to race admin and told them if they could string 8 days, similar to that 91km together, they would ahve a winner. Most people felt that way and the race organiser is responding.

The ood this year was not as good as in previous years but it was still a fne spread. I think the tent was too small to cater for everyone. Perhaps square tables?

There were dirt bins but it looked like most just chose to be waited on. I noticed a definate aire of expectationabout the camp this year compared to 2005. Perhaps people are just becoming more demanding and expect more for less. Sadly it does not work that way.

Next years Cape Epic sounds like it will be just the ticket for the mountain bikers.

Yes. It looks like Kevin might be responding to the criticism. I'm not keen on Cape Town to Cape Town - completing a journey from point A to B is more satisfying - but if the new route eliminates long sections of district road and allows better organisation at overnight stops, it could be the way forward.
