Many believed Ange was a fool, and Thomas was being touted as the Messiah.... well...

I, on the other hand didn't think there was a problem in Ange letting the league slip while giving everything for the Europa League.... It was a phase, and big decisions had to be made. I still believe Ange made the right call.

The early season results weren't great, but the injuries to key players seriously hampered performances. Thomas Frank is faced with similar injuries though. Let's see if he can get Spurs to finish higher than 17th... and which Cup he can win!

Met Tony Cottee last night. He of West Ham fame and played for England at one point.

Nice guy, but you would hardly think he had the stature of a football legend. Players these days are way more physical I reckon. He is way shorter than I am ( I am 1.90).

interesting fellow , had some great stories about shenanighans and goings on back in the old days of football.

Met a few that I felt similarly about... but that was then!

My brother from another mother, and best man at my wedding, arranged me a ticket for the Arsenal v Wolves game for my birthday. This was my first ever experience both at the Emirates but also watching The Arsenal live. The seat itself was an amazing seat as it was on Club Level. For those unaware, Club level is what I would say is the equivalent to that of a box ticket at the Rugby in South Africa. Once you have gained access and get up the stairs / elevator you are greeted by a plethora of food and beverage "courtyard" type of setting instead of individual "boxes". The one very nice difference is that because of the "courtyard" being on the inside, it allows you to circumnavigate the entire club level, either walking through the rows of seats or behind the glass wall protecting the "courtyard" from the elements.

Back to that later.

Friday evening I had very little sleep due to the excitement 😁 so Saturday morning when my alarm went off I had already been lying there for a few hours trying not to wake the Mrs. Who was going to join me but at the last minute couldn't so I traveled lone wolf. Anyway, arrived at the airport for a 06:20 departure from the Scottish Highlands to land in London at 08:40. After spending the whole day walking around seeing a few Touristy stuffs, Big Ben, Supreme Court, Parliament, Buckingham Palace etc, I made my way to the emirates stadium to go to the Armory (Club shop) where not only did I splash some cash on myself but also got both my sons a Christmas gift. Unfortunately I missed the Stadium tour but this wasn't on the agenda as I would prefer to do that when my boys are with next time.

Back to game night, and when going around the stadium before the game I saw this very nice banner. Glass wall seen in the background.

The game itself was terrible from Arsenal and the frustration was build during the entire first half. The second half started more brightly and after the changes were made we got the opener from a set-piece corner taken by Saka again. In all honesty I expected it to end 1-0 to The Arsenal but alas Wolves got a goal in the 90th minute. What was nice to experience was chaotic relief when we got the winner in the 94th minute. In the stadium it was announced the Gabi Jesus had scored it but unfortunately Saka won't get either of the assists on his career stats. The final whistle brought a sense a of jailbreak. Walking to the accommodation afterwards, I bumped into someone who had flown in from Spain for the game and both of us were in awe of the whole experience.

Some personal take aways:

My man of the match was Piero Hincapie

We don't supply Viktor enough service, he works his socks off too

The Arsenal supporters could be better at supporting and cheering the team on. If it wasn't for the Ashburton Army the stadium would have been silent most of the game.

The public transport in London is amazing and if I lived there I wouldn't own a vehicle.

Fluit fluit, my storie is uit 😉
