De Gendt spend hours in the wind tunnel with engineers to alter his beard’s style and length for maximum aerodynamic gains [emoji3186]

Wind tunnels far too expensive for that kind of testing. The good folk of the Ghent Velodrome were more than happy to help though.

Also Thom has the coolest beard in the peloton.

Fun fact

Peter Sagan becomes the rider with the most days in a Tour de France distinctive jersey: 112 days in green.

Big rides from some of the bigger guys today.. Matthews and Sagan had a very tough job today.

But more points for Sagan..who now has a 60 point lead BUT he is going to work very hard to keep that green jersey..

This tour has been exceptional, today adds to the spectacle.

Happy for:

De Gendt's stage win!

Allaphillipe's Yellow!

Pinot's gains against GC rivals!

May we have many more stages like this.

Agreed 100%!

The Frenchies will be real happy to have one of their own in yellow for Bastille Day and it's the most likeable of the bunch that'll have it on his shoulders. Alaphillipe is a one of a kind rider that seemingly everyone just loves to watch.

As for Pinot, have always dug his attitude to racing as well and he showed proper courage on Thursday and today. I am hoping though that he hasn't burnt matches he might need during hell week at the end.

I do not think there is much doubt that he will keep the green jersey till the end unless he has a bad crash.

But imo he is not what he used to be... something  seems to be missing...it is as if he has lost a bit of spark...
