Now you've killed the thread... or one side of it anyway

The readon for this tihread is to allow the average cyclist to get CSA news and to be informed about anything csa related. the job that clubs used to do way back.

The good and the bad.

I just do not believe any of us are as informed as we should be.

I for one would like to know what sponsors and Lotto money CSA have received in 2018 and what it was spent on.

Perhaps if CSA produced their financials as they are meant to do, but fail to do year on year you might but get your answer.....

I just checked, 2017 financials are on the CSA web site.

Glad to hear, am guessing as they got caught with the Hollard debacle, they are slowly getting their house in order.... perhaps you can then answer your own question of where the money is going as it does not seem to be going into grass routes cycling.

Me am not going to waste my time reading them until I see genuine change!!

You didn’t even know about the insurance stuff, nor about the Sportsfire expose.

Many of us are way more informed than what we can say. So again, another side to the argument.

What is your affiliation to CSA? Are they currently contributing financially or other to your racing career?

if CSA had a "CSA News" thread on the BikeHub it would be very interesting....

First of all you make a sweeping statement on their financial reports, and then you say you are not going to read them when it is pointed out that they are on the website.

Perhaps you are not really interested in the first place so why bother complaining

Because it is an opinion and to quote me in full, I said that I will take a more closer interest when CSA start showing grass routes support for cycling, become accountable and ultimately the executives fall on the swords for the hollard issue and other matters... and not just say they will investigate the matter themselves and produce a report..... which no one has seen and I for one fail to see how an investigation of their mismanagement by themselves can be independent and open!!

All I have seen so far is the failed management for the last 5 years reappointing themselves and carrying on as they were with no accountability.... so why read financials that even if you raised concerns about.... the modus of operandi would be to say......"we will look into it and report on it"..... then to carry on as usual!!!

So you want CSA management to resign, that would have to include all mismanaged underperforming regional bodies, but what then?

Their financial status is a problem, their management incompetence is a related, albeit seperate problem.

Bickering about their self produced financial reports won’t fix the manangement. Good management could however fix their financials.

That’s not what he said. Rather ask him what he meant instead of putting words in his mouth.

Working in absolutes seldom generates workable solutions. The “either everybody resigns or nobody resigns” approach is weak defense.

But those who screwed this up need to go.

Yes the main protagonist of the issues and then start a fresh!

But seems I wont need to continue to request it as the way things are going CSA will be out of business.  As out of curiosity I went and looked at the financials

  • R+2m in debt
  • Pleading with UCI to half their fee owed to them and requesting UCI write off that 50% of the fee owed provided they make 50% payment by 30 Sept 2018.... but they have no money to do so!!
  • Velotex claim/court case for R714,000 worth of clothing made and given to CSA who have not paid for it and now dispute it, that they ordered it (sounds like more mismanagement)
  • Fees collected in 2016 R1,1m, fees collected in 2017 R325,000.... down over two thirds, as more and more cyclist refuse to join CSA... that a big loss in 1 year and no one seems to be doing anything about it

So based on the salient extracts of the 2017 financial statement, you think the current incumbents are doing a good job?

And you think I am wrong to ask for them to move over and let someone else have a go and do what CSA should be doing for the cyclist in this country?

But first as you request answers from us to your questions, answer questions asked of you. In particular Patch's questions!!

So based on your comment I went and wasted 10 minutes reading the financials.... and it only confirmed what I already knew and why I do take and INTEREST in !!

Hence why I have my opinion and comment.  Perhaps you should go read them yourself and also take an interest.

See my post above for the salient points if you can't be bothered to read them yourself.
