Best bottle cage for seatpost mount?

My seatpost mounted Specialized bottles didn't stand a chance on the corrugations in last year's Trans Baviaans.

Front one was fine though.

Have to admit, I have not ridden anything like the Trans Baviaans, but have never had an issue on  the races I have done.

Works nicely on dual suspension bikes - horror show on a hardtail - the bottle comes flying out at the first hint of a bump.

I have never lost a bottle using it (even on a steel hardtail, and except in a crash, when all bets are off) - BUT - you need to make sure the bottles have the right indentation to fit properly - camelback and USN bottles seem to work best - I am sure there ar others that fit well too - my Hollard bottles don't fit too well compared to the USN ones - the rim of the cage just doesnt catch the bottle properly.

Any suggestions for which bottle cages work best for seatpost mount?

2 issues I've had, they break and some don't actually keep the bottle in very well [emoji36]

Firstly, well done for trying to find a solution and not just falling for the Camelbak thing.

The Spez Zee cage works wonders!

I tried all sorts, but it just never seemed to stay in (that is on the seatpost mount though - works fine on the downtube).

Anyway, the Profile design cages habe found their way onto my hardtail - they are ugly, but at least the bottles don't even budge.

Zee cage stays my favourite cage for ease of use, but on the dual suspension bike.

I lose bottles on seatpost with Zee Cage on Dual Suz when bottle is full and gets gnarly. Side entry is a pleasure though.

Also, a dropped bottle into the back wheel can eat spokes and ruin your ride.
