Hi Eddie,

We are the distributors for Lake South Africa and we would love to help you out with a pair of shoes! You can email me directly on jessica@wheel-house.co.za or send a mail to info@lakeshoes, kim@lakeshoes.co.za

You’ll get excellent service from Lake SA. I live in Somerset West and they sent me different sizes to fit. In the end they Imported the specific shoes I wanted (CX241) which solved my shoe problem totally. Google the reviews of these shoes - they are the real solution for wide feet. The shoes are expensive, but the quality and comfort superb. Will last a lifetime if you take care of them properly.

Give the SIDI range a try. I purchased the broader version that provides a lot more space in the toe box. Think it is called the Mega. Not sure where you based but a few stores in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town stock them.

The Mega is a high volume fit. Its not just wider, the upper is taller around the ankle and the entire shoe has much more volume. Not always suitable for wider feet. Their Wide fit is better suited for this if you can find the right size....

I have very wide feet and finding the right shoe with width at the front (as apposed to high volume shoes) a huge problem. Lake and Bont are hard to come by. What other brands can you suggest? Mountain bike.

Specialized comp ,not the s-works !!

I'll second this. I have two pairs, one MTB one Road both the 237 model.

Kim sent me a pair to try on and had to import the size and colour I wanted. I had the shoes within a week and the fit is superb. Genuine leather. The MX237 is of abrasion resistant leather (suede) I guess so its a little stiff in the beginning. After a few wears its starts to soften and the fit is perfect.

Other shoes I've tried all have issues with wider feet.

Some shrink

most are too wide in the heel if you opt for the wide versions.

The only other company whose shoes work for wider forefoot with narrow heel is Bont

Diadora

Have two pairs, MTB and Road.

Difficult to find in SA. Try Evobikes. Bought mine from CRC.

Do you run? New Balance works me. Bought Asics, their wide range, but will go back to NB.

Any shoe/model in particular you can recommend?

Hi Eddie

Sorry i was away i have got the Shimano XC 61L Shoe.  Very high qulaity tough shoe   Its wide enough for my fat feet , but to be fair if i knew about this Lake shoes i would most likely take them.  Good luck nothing worse than a shoe that squeezes your foot like its in a vice.  Those 5 tens also look good .
