Garmin 45, 245 and 945

So looking at getting the 245 for my wife and myself, have had the Garmin Forerunner 15 for years and its has served me justly for what I have used it for. Have even used it to record bike rides, even though that ain't what it is designed for.

So i guess my question is, for cycling, running and the occasional swim in the gym pool, is there a reason why I should be looking at the 645 instead of the 245? I presume the 645 would be replaced soonish, but I am just wondering if it would be worth it?

I plan on getting us the Edge 530s soon as well, so then it would only be used for running and swimming.

So not really sure if it's worth the premium for Running power and a barometric altimeter?

If you are just going to run , maybe look at the lower FR range, does the same job for less money.

Cant go wrong with the 945 though.

Fair enough and thanks for the input. There are one or two extras I do like and will use on the 945. I'm a big fan of the simple training load focus feature on the 945

I've been using the 245 for around 6 months for mtb, squash, running and as an activity and sleep tracker. It has a pool swim function which I haven't used yet. It's primarily a running watch, but it works great for me.

It came down to a choice between the 245 and 645. As far as I could gather, there's not a major difference, but I went with the 245 which was slightly cheaper and has some newer features. I'd say buy the cheapest of the two, you won't regret it either way.

945 fanboy here. Had the 935 before too, smashing watch. But I just couldn't resist the music function the 945 has. I find the Estimated Fluid Loss on the GC website after an activity pretty interesting.

Makes for pretty good reading, so you can plan for other rides/events/races how much you should consume in order to avoid dehydration. But with that in mind, overhydration is bad too!
