Question about Extreme Lights

So riding Transbaviaans for the first time and I am planning on getting a light from Extreme Lights. Got a quick question, can one also power your Garmin from the Extreme Lights battery, i.e. does it have more than one power output and can that be used to charge a Garmin?

I don't think so. But will wait for them to answer. You may need a little power board to convert the power. Rather just take a small power bank and tie it to your bars? Just a thought.

Thanks, that was my plan, but was hoping to avoid the extra clutter.

my problem with these are a bit more "first world" i guess. I REALLY really want one....but I 'aggressively dislike' the red cables and trims. Stuff like this should just be black or grey or neutral whatever imo lol.

You can power anything with the battery - all you need is a USB power converter (which they also sell)

I used it to power my Polar on the on Baviaans. I kept the spare battery in the camelbak and ran the cable down the strap.

think the OP might mean if it can charge and use he light simultaneously..that looks like an either/or solution unfortunately. i know the Ravemen 1200 can do that though(make light and charge stuff at the same time)...but then its not going to be as good of a light i guess.

EDIT: i guess this would give you that option if you get that with the above usb converter....

Thanks, I see now that he wants to charge together. I have more than one battery  :D. It's never fun doing the Baviaans in the dark hence why I have two lights and 3 batteries. Had to do a solo ride between CP#5 & CP#7 in the dark after my light ran out of juice and my partner lost me. Yip, we got a time penalty at CP#7  :(. But ya, adding that cable to the basket will allow you to run everything off one battery.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I do indeed want to run my light and charge my Garmin at the same time.

Reckon I will just go with the small power bank strapped to the handlebar.

By getting the cables it will be cheaper than an additional power bank  :whistling:

Yes you can run both at the same time by using the Y cable. We are out of stock on these but should get in before the event. Which will then allow you to power your light and Garmin at the same time. Although I do know that some Garmins does not operate whilst charging.

most edge units do

the older ones (500 etc.) can only do it with and OTG cable

A nifty thing my Polar unit does (M400) - I have one of those USB powerbank adapter. Polar do not charge via the battery pack but it uses the external power supply before switching to the units battery. Used it on the 2016 Baviaans and will do so again this year .
