I believe the plan is for them to get adapted to heat hence leaving that early. Hoping that this will turn out to be as smart a decision as the decision to send our 'A' team guys ahead to New Zealand prior the second round of the RC.

2019 world cup for the boks

21 sep BIG game

4 weeks of boring stuff

19/20 october - ok it gets serious again for 2 weeks

totally unrelated, but let's put a timeclock on the point where SABC sport wakeup and realise they should be screeining some of this and go knocking on supersports door cap in hand.

I'm going with 19 september

Yes, it is great. One needs to acclimate to conditions and then its a fitness story as well if you stuggle with the climate.

while it would be fantastic to see the boks win the cup, and there have been very encouraging signs in the championship this year, realistically I believe the AB's will beat the boks twice in this campaign.

would dearly like to see a 6 nations side do really well, particularly England, I think the best to be hoped for is a semi.

However, I have been wrong in the past, likely to be wrong again

The thought of England winning both world cups makes me outright nauseous

It's nice to see such forethought from Rassie wrt the tournament. But it's not as if other teams aren't doing it as well. I know Wales have been training in Turkey for much the same reason. It might even wind up something that has a telling effect on the tournament results especially for the European teams.

I think England and Wales will be the strongest of the 6 Nations teams. There's a likelihood that Wales might be the 6 Nations team to go as far the final if all goes well for them. I see England as potential semifinalists but I wonder if they have the bottle to get to the final. They have made a habit of blowing big leads. Think the SA tour last year and the Scotland game in the 6 Nations this year. Badly beating a dispirited Ireland says very little imho and I'm not very convinced of their mental strength and that's where I think Wales have the edge on their 6 Nations rivals and maybe our Boks but not the AB's.

Don't think Wales have the depth to sustain a world cup campaign...and I don't think they have the ability to beat a confident bok squad. There game is just to one dimensional.

I'd be more worried about the mental stranglehold they have over us due to their current record against us. Not sure of the exact record but I think we've only one match out of the last four or so which also include back to back defeats in Cardiff. And let's not forget that they've won 15 of their last 16 tests which includes a Grand Slam. They will be tough opposition and shouldn't be underestimated at all. As per this interesting article (don't read to much into it). https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/rugby-world-cup-power-rankings-16824473

That said I do feel that Rassie has created an incredible squad with talented depth that is currently running high on confidence but with a realistic views on their opponents. I am fairly sure that we will do well at the RWC but I think it would be best to keep in mind that this will need to take it big game by big game. With Rassie being Rassie I am also fairly sure that he will have game plans prepared for all scenarios regarding each possible play off match and opponent. However I still reckon we will wind up playing Ireland in the quarterfinals. Then meet Wales in the Semifinals before hopefully meeting the AB's in the finals and then winning our third World Cup. This a hard and not so favourable route and we could get knocked out at the quarters by Ireland or in the semis by Wales simply because anything can happen over the course of 80 minutes. Don't think there will be much of a sure bet in this RWC.

This is a pretty good video from Squidge on whether or not the AB's are the team to beat or not. His comparison of the RWC winning teams of 11 and 15 to the one that will be playing in this tournament is interesting and informative and going by what I've seen on Kiwi media via YouTube pretty accurate. Like I said in my previous post there may be precious little by way of 'guaranteed' results.
