So, after many transactions on the Hub, all without issues, I suppose eventually I would have to run into a problem.

 

"Bought" a set of DA9000 calipers  https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/378747-dura-ace-9000-brake-calipers/ from Martin45, real name BM Fourie, deal concluded on the phone, paid same day (Aug 27th) into his Capitec account and was assured that it would be sent as he had a "Postnet 300m away from him".

I was away for 2 weeks and was surprised to find that nothing was waiting for me on my return.

 

But no sweat, WhatsApped him and was assured he would send. A week later phoned him again and was told he was in Worcester so hadn't been able to send, but would send when back in Cape Town in 2 days.

 

Nothing happened. Now does not answer my calls and no response to voice messages, and seems to have removed WhatsApp from his phone.

 

He had 2 positive transactions in Trader Feedback, and still has a set of Carbon handlebars for sale. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/378742-giant-carbon-bars/

 

If anyone knows this individual tell him from me that unless he has a really good explanation he's a crook and a scumbag

Sorry to hear, I sold him a DA cassette a month or so back.

Didn't have any issues, but then again I was the seller and met in person..

He is an older white gent with some health issues.

I bought the carbon bars that are linked in the OP.

Had no issues dealing with Martin. Our last whatsapps were on 7 Sept where he was checking to see if everything was ok with the bars.

 

Maybe something has happened, phone stolen ?

It really doesn't seem to add up. 

 

He seemed genuine on the phone and others who have dealt with him had no hassles, and they were not all face to face transactions.

 

But 3 weeks after the deal, when he last answered my call, he was still alive and well and had still not sent the calipers.

 

And has gone radio silent since

It's a bummer that you're in this situation. Maybe there is a completely reasonable explanation, like his phone being stolen, but now you're in the position where you can only wait and/or hound the guy for answers.

I have found 5 additional sales he has made on the Hub in the past, I assume all went well as no negative feedback. My experience is making less and less sense
