  1. Edit: I apologize; I was just trying to get a rise out of you with the News 24 thing.
  2. Maybe you could try Richie he oftern has odd items like this or maybe he can get it for you. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/profile/105-richiespares
  3. No worries, all good! Thank you for the detailed explanation.
  4. It likely depends on what the OP means by "high engagement." Lyne should be pawl if not mistaken. For ratchet hubs, a low-viscosity grease would be suitable, while for pawl hubs, a light oil will provide sufficient lubrication. A ratchet and pawl freehub experiences very little friction stress when freewheeling, as well as during forward rotation or when locked. Most manufacturers recommend using light oil—even Shimano oil for pawl hubs—and light grease for ratcheting hubs. This ParkTool link contains useful information that may help make the choice easier. https://www.parktool.com/en-int/blog/repair-help/freehub-service
  5. I don't see why a few drops of Shimano mineral oil wouldn't work. Mavic use Shimano mineral oil in several service videos, so it may also be a good option for a Lyne hub.
  6. Both are in the same listing Morewood and Momsen viper.
  7. Looks like these were the two bike's that were taken. https://bikehub.co.za/stolen-bikes/3649/morewood-softail
  8. @nero123 Looks like the bike made it's way to Mozambique.
  9. Maybe keep an eye out for a good second-hand fork. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-forks/894625/rockshox-recon-silver-tk-26-inch-100mm
  10. There should also be a 5mm hex that needs to be tightened clockwise it is not as deep as the 4mm close to the top.Otherwise you might need a new cartridge but probably easier to replace the fork. @droo might have more info.
  11. You can start by removing the blue knob. Then, you will find a round piece with many small spline teeth; remove that as well, either by using your fingers or a magnet. Next, insert a 4mm hex wrench into the hole and turn it clockwise until the fork locks out. After that, replace all the parts, ensuring the blue knob is in the locked position. Finally, test to see if this resolves the issue.
  12. The 920 would likely provide a better overall ride since it is a 29er with a 1x12 drivetrain, while the 720 is only a 27.5 with either a LTWoo 1x10 or Microshift 1x9. This means the 920 has a wider range of gearing and larger wheels, which will roll more easily. Also have a look at the @Titan Racing Bikes range they are available on the Hub to chat and should have something that might work for you. Edit: The S920 has a unisex version with better specifications, while the Skye S920 is specifically designed for women with entry-level specs. I'm not sure which S920 you are referring to.
  13. "It is possible that Matt, or one of his staff in his absence, has reviewed this thread. The buyer and seller sit squarely on either side of the fence that Admin has created in the interest of a safe classifieds environment. The rating should stand, as the seller clearly didn't conduct himself in a professional manner. There is likely more to this than just a WhatsApp message or two, and one could argue that although a sale was not concluded, there may still have been an agreement to transact; therefore, the rating should remain." 14. I was half expecting Michael Jackson to show his face again.

    Cape Epic 2026

I suppose this is one way of keeping the two minutes time gap 🤣 2026-03-17_09-43-33_0.mp4
  16. It's not worth the aggravation, bud. As a seasoned hubber of 14 years and a good reputation, you can let it go. Obviously, the seller is a newbie dealer who is buying and selling on the hub for profit but is not registered as a dealer and is flying under the radar. However, I’m sure the admin will address this sooner or later.
  17. I think you will find that you only have yourself to blame for the situation you find yourself in. You made the decision not to sell to him based on your conversation, yet you continued to lead the buyer on and made promises you had no intention of keeping. Why didn't you cut the sale short in the beginning? Why did you sell the item if you clearly stated that the buyer had the first option? Why didn't you give the buyer a courtesy call to ask if he was still interested before selling, when you already had an agreement in place? Why didn’t you send the photos and information the buyer requested? Did you sell the item to someone who asked fewer questions or perhaps didn’t require shipping? Your moral and ethical compass seems a bit off, yet you create a thread seeking sympathy. Maybe you should sit back and reflect on whether your actions were entirely honorable.
  18. Maybe you should have called the next day when you were in a better frame of mind. Without the comments that you had a drink or two, the seller might have taken it more seriously.
  19. I agree with you 100%—first come, first served. However, in this scenario, the buyer was given dibs, and at no point did the seller inform the buyer that if someone else came along with cash, he would have to let it go. Instead, the seller led the buyer to believe that the deal would be concluded by committing to send photos. He then proceeded to ignore a phone call and all subsequent messages. Does he owe the buyer an explanation for not honoring the first option agreement? Probably not, but any decent person would reply, even just to say, "Sorry, I have another interested party. Do you still want it, or can I let it go?"
  20. It seems there was some wrongdoing on both sides, particularly on the seller's side. The buyer requested the first option, and the seller agreed. The buyer then asked for photos, to which the seller also agreed. However, the photos were not forthcoming, and the seller chose to ghost the buyer. He likely found a local buyer and didn't want the hassle of boxing and shipping to KZN. The seller made commitments and led buyer on the seller did not uphold his end of the deal. Bike Hub T&c aside i would probably also give 1 star.
  21. Going forward, using a little copper grease would be a good idea.
  22. After the rub on gear 4 try backing it off 4x then test then 5x and test shouldn't need to go 6 or 7 as 5 should be center. Do you have any crank spacer on the drive side throwing chain line out?
  23. Have you made midrange micro adjustments from gear 5 or 6 when going through all the settings in the app?
  24. Maybe you should ask your LBS to check the hanger alignment. If it feels rough through gears 5 to 8, particularly around the mid-cassette, then the hanger might be the issue.
