Hi guys

A friend of mine recently bought a new Silverback Stride Comp 29er from CL

We went for a trail ride at Rosemary Hill, 5km into the ride he's bike's chain broke

We were quite surprised by this as it's as brand new bike & we were under the impression it was supposed to come out with Shimano components (not sure if the chain falls under components)

So just wanting to know how common are these PYC chains & are they any good?

Thanks

LOL, is PYC a KMC ripoff?

Often hear the same about KMC being a knockoff of Shimano. LOL

In fairness, KMC isn't bad.

Not so sure about this PYC ... no experience with it.

Been riding a PYC chain for about 500km now. First choice would have been KMC but only 1 of the 3 LBS's had stock of a 10 speed chain and that was this PYC brand. No issues yet and it shifts very well. Not sure how long it'll last. Will update this post as I go along

Though they are made to different specs...KMC makes shimano’s chains lol.

“ KMC Chains are made by KMC Chain Industrial Co Ltd, a roller chain manufacturer in Taiwan with outlets in the US and Europe. They make and manufacture bicycle chains, as well as other components under the name of KMC, and distribute them to other companies, including Shimano“
