Glute Medius pain.

Recommended Posts

Morning all.

So after suffering with this for a few years and taking just as long to diagnose it, I am still struggling.

I have done the chiro , physio , needling, cupping and stretching...

I have found the elastic band around both legs and crab walking does help a little, but as soon as I hit serious hills like Sabie the pain is intense.

Any recommendations please?

Thx

I had this quite badly and still get it mildly from time to time. On first getting it a combination of a bike fit and physio cured it - specifically the elastic crab walking, bridges, leg raises etc ... did them religiously for several weeks.

If yours is bad consider bike fit, more physio (if in CT mine is a real magician) and also a biokintecist. I think the fact that the crab walking helps a little is a clue that specific muscle strengthening is a big part of your solution.

Hope it comes right.

Thanks so much for your advice.

I have done the bike fit, but will add those other exercises to the crab walk...

I learned something interesting the other day. My hipflexors have always killed me with tightness. Turns out they're just having to work very hard all the time because my glutes and lower abs are weak and its throwing my hips out of whack.

So while I can't address your specific issue maybe you need to get someone to checkout your posture, or strength/weakness imbalances. Its amazing to see how the body is so interlinked so it could be something you've never thought of.

Needling has always been my go-to, it usually works wonders, but along with all that other stuff and if it keeps popping up you're obviously not addressing the cause, just covering up the symptoms every so often.

Not sure how I logged in as a new user sorry..

I agree, I stretch my hipflexors twice a day and it has really helped.

They are supposed to activate muscles that are dormant - as pointed out the pain is because the muscle is compensating for something else that isn't working properly and that's why it is sore. Get a specialist to show you and make sure you are going the exercises properly and that the correct muscles are being correctly targeted and activated.

Do you guys think that doing more of these exercises this week before Sabie will do more harm than good?
