Have had good success with those rims in the past. Cut down a roll decent gaffer tape. Cut it slightly narrower then the 1" inch gorilla tape so it doesn't rise up the rim bead seat and get shifted by the tire bead.

Run your finger down the middle of the tape strip ahead of where it sticks to the rum so it forms a "U" as you apply it. That way its settles down into the rim better without tension.

I will admit, that is a bugger. I've considered using the table saw... but that's asking for trouble!

I ran a pencil line, then carefully cut a couple layers down into the roll with a sharp box cutter. Used up a few layers then cut a couple more next time.

for rims with a deep valley or an offset valley I first tape that up with 3M fibre tape to kinda of fill it in and then apply the rim sealing tape over that.

The method alouette describes is also a good one in that the rim sealling tape bounds in the valley as well as the flat tyre bead seats.

With any of the methods, ensuring that the tape is properly bonded in imperative

Is the tape you're using wide enough/wound appropriately considering the rim spec.?

I have used the 25mm Gorilla tape. I must admit, as far as appropriately wound.... I have no idea.
