I hope I can find the help I need :-) I have the Garmin Fenix5, very happy but don't know where to find other files. When I used the Polar, I could go see other peoples rides, anywhere in the world. If you liked it you could save it, add to my device then do the exact route. at this point I just want to add files around the Cape, more specifically MTB routes.

Can someone please assist me.

Thanks and have an awesome day

On the Garmin Connect website, go to Training -> Courses and then you can search for MTB routes near to you and send the files to you Garmin. Alternatively if you are on Strava you can download the GPX files, upload them as Courses on the same page on Garmin Connect and then send them to your watch.

At first glance I prfered the Polar web.

Took some time getting used too, but Garmin Connect is a pretty powerful interface.

You can even create your own custom routes in it

In case you're struggling to get a course file imported, there's a small trick I know a lot of friends don't know

  1. Go to the area that you're looking to ride in - chances are someone has already created a course file.
  2. If not, go to Strava and also search (explore) segments in the area. Not sure if the non-Premium subscribers can download a GPX file (I'm on the 60-day trial version, so it allows a download).
  3. Open GC, Training, Courses.
  4. Click on the IMPORT link at the bottom right - many people miss this fine print.
  5. Once uploaded, you can edit, eg. adding in the summit, sprint, water, food, waypoints - I find it helps with the distance to go to the top.
  6. Click on SEND TO DEVICE - select your device and... after the next sync, you're good to go.

edit: forgot to add that you can also create custom routes using a number of apps, eg. Ridewithgps, Komoot, GC, Strava, etc.
