Hey guys

I've been lurking and realised its time to do the decent thing and introduce myself, hopefully meeting some more local guys on this forum.

I used to ride in the 2000's up until I moved to East London and had to basically sell off everything I owned to get out of a financial predicament.

Recently when this pandemic hit the world and I peaked at my worst weight ever (169kg) I decided it is time.   So the sad search began during the worst stock shortage the bicycle industry seems to have suffered in recent times.

Eventually settled on a Fuji Nevada from CycleLab as it was the only 29er XL I could find in my immediate budget.  This was shortly upgraded with a Suntour Raidon fork which is a surprisingly good fork for the cost (Tanks to Janos from Evobikes for sorting me out there).

I am one of the few guys who seem to be in a position of financial freedom during this mess as I have had time to save up a nice sum in the 4 weeks since this has happened to start lurking after a older full suspension bike as this has always been the one thing I have wanted and never thought I could afford.  (So if any of you have a USED decent softail keep me in mind)

Anyhow, it has been 4 weeks of riding, my ass is starting to get into shape, legs are catching up faster though.  I managed to drop 8kg's in the last 4 weeks, banting and riding as much as possible.

I am from East London as stated above and I think I am training towards the K2K later this year if it actually ends up happening.

Hope to make many friends on here in the coming years.

Hey Boxer, getting rid of 8kg is flippen amazing, well done man!!! Just a quick one...You say you have an XL, what is your weight, height...looking at your pics, seems XL might be to big for you, but might be the angle as well. Or maybe try lower bars in front, take spacers out, so you attack those trails like a concorde  :w00t:

That Suntour Raidon fork is very very underated, Giants came out with those, they dam good. Wish i could lose half the amount of weight you have, guess we must just keep on training.

Hi

I am 1.97 but not extremely long legs.  I have always enjoyed a bit of a more upright riding position hence I spaced the stem instead of cutting back the fork steerer tube when I fitted it.  I will work my way down into the correct geometry for hill climb as my fitness increases but I do have a bad back due to carrying a lot of weight on the front of my torso, hence I need to ride more upright for now.

I do fit a large to a degree for my leg length but the top tube is too short on the large frame in comparison to the XL so I stick with an XL.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I suppose 8kg is a hell of a lot it just pales in insignificance to me when comparing it to my goal of getting down to 110-115kg.  (45kg to go)
