I had Onza's on my enduro bike (Ibex/Canis) - they were very durable but just suddenly went "off" and the side walls would just get extremely soft and start leaking. I still enjoyed them and would recommend them. I prefer the Maxxis tyres but just impossible to find.

Yup.

8 months later and the sidewalls on the Onza Ibex is crying out sealant.

I have a spare Purgatory 2.3 and the local Specialized agents have stock of the butcher in 2.3. Guess that's my next move.

Might it be down to the sealant? I've used two different slimes and the only times it's leaked was when I tore the Ibex sidewall and a valve blowout jumping down concrete steps. I moved my Canis 29x2.25 to the front and it now has almost 4 600km on it and still good for at least a few more hundred, half of that is on tar and paths getting to the trails. I'm a fan!

I'm running Spez Eliminator up front and Vittoria Barzo at the back (I had it spare and was reluctant to blow a wad of cash at the time to replace a tyre when I had a new lying around in any case). The Barzo is not holding up too well to be honest which I find strange as previous iterations of that tyre I've ridden went well. The Eliminator is 6 months old and I am finally getting to grips with it (pun intended). It holds a line beautifully and lets me really take it to the ragged edge without fail on janky stuff.

I am considering a Slaughter for the rear now as the Barzo is coming up for replacement anyway.
