Views on the 2021 KTM Scarp 294 SX Dual Suspension Aluminium Mountain Bike

Hi all,

 

I currently have a Titan hard tail and I am on the heavier side riding mostly gravel and was thinking if a dual suspension would make for a better riding experience?

Yip. The silver looks like a few braces were added during testing. Not stiff enough? no issue add a bit to the top tube. All fixed then....

Why are you even posting this thread if all you add is you don’t like the design of the frame.

 

What bike would you recommend?

The KTM part that attracted me is that they still control the entire value chain and is focussed on quality.

 

I am however new in the MTB scene and therefore asking on the forum as there is so much knowledge and experience here.

Titan is another option with the Cipher range. Good value

Historically KTM's backup in the mtb space has not been great in South Africa. It's not due to poor quality - all bike brands have issues at some point, and when that point comes good local support is great. It's not lekker to have to wait 5 or 6 weeks to get back on a bike when if you were on another brand you'd be up in a few days.

 

If I was in the marker for that class of bike my money would be on the Titan Cypher range. They offer great value for money, can take 2 bottles, look great, and have a transferrable lifetime warranty with the backup to go along. I have also only heard good reviews from anyone who has ridden one.

 

Silverback also a great option, the looks just put me off massively. But that's personal preference.

 

In short, I would not buy a KTM, or for that matter, anything from Cycle Lab - but that's a story for another thread, probably started on a slow Friday.

If you decide on Titan, go to the website and get a quote - they will put you in touch woth the closest bike shop that sells Titan. If that is Cycle Lab, so be it.

 

Otherwise Tool Up Cycles in Centurion is awesome.

 

PS, yes - dual suspension is the way to go. Hardtails are awesome, bit dual suspension bikes are much comfier and generally the way to go if you only have one bike.

Certainly transferable.  BUT, you have to check if the first owner actually registered it on their website to initiate the warranty .... then also some fine print in terms of what must be done to transfer the warranty.
