Righto chaps, I need someone to take pity on this seriously unfit hubber and take me for a ride around Emmerantia/Spruit this Sunday morning..

My riding partner cant make it and Im not keen to go on my own as I can like just to get donners lost somewhere..

If you by some miracle agree to this, please note..

It takes me 20 minutes before I stop complaining about how cold it is in the morning...

I puke on the uphills in the first 20 minutes because I drink too much coffee..

Im okay on the flats, technicals and downhills, but my legs turn to jello when they see a hill in the distance...

I have to stop for a smoke after a 1/2 hour..

Did I mention that Im really unfit and slow on the uphills..

So after all this, if you still have charity in your heart, take pity on this 'old' noob who is hanging to ride the spruit/part of before I retire my 17yr old Diamond Back to a occasional tar burner.... and start the rebuild on my new bike..Smile

In return you will recieve muffins/bagel/your choice inserted here and coffee at a Mug And Bean or wherever is the most convenient place to have a half time 'Im dying and need a rest/smoke' episode and of course lots of talking ***, kicking tyres and stuff that guys do all the time when we have known one another for more than 5 minutes.. and of course my eternal gratitude for your patience and timeBig%20smile

Im not that bad, just making sure that everyone understands that Im no race snake....Wink

Also hoping to meet a few more people in the area that ride/enjoy MTB the way I do... Its not life and death and the enjoyment of actually doing it more important than how fast we do it..Smile

KDEE, a mate 'n I are starting from the Paulshof end at around 07:30 on Sunday. We dubbed the ride: "Phat buoys Ride Again" which should give you an indication of our general physical state.

We might not make it all the way to the dam, but either way will be looking at about 1.5-2 hrs at an average speed of around the 16-19 kmh mark. Drop me a PM if you're keen on joining us. Otherwise, if you encounter anyone on the trail who you think could be us, shout: "Phatties & Moanies forever!"

Diong a quick (I mean time not pace) 7:30 on Saturday starting at the dam wall ( gotta be back home for the rugger ) and unfortunately / fortunately making the long awaited trip to Logwood on Sunday.

I am showing my brother in law around who is a runner converting to riding. Last weekend was his first time on the bike in quite a while. We will be doing Albert's Farm and a bit of Northcliff. Join in if you are keen.

EB, as i started reading your post i thought i'd join you guys... but 16-19kmph might be a bit tough for me at my current state of unfitness... guess i'll stick to idt for now unless KDEE wants to go slower than that. but with only 2 peeps maybe NF might be a better idea? and 7:30am - eish it's still freezing at that hour!!!!

HR: I'm hoping to make this more regular & would be keen to do a ride with the uber poster 'n newshound!

SP: I was considering NF, but wanted to "stick with what I know" for my first ride out...

I'm starting to assemble a respectable pile of winter kit on the kitchen table to deal with the 07:30 insanity. I guess the thermoflask will go along to counter frostbite!

A realistic avg speed is kinda hard to peg: I haven't touched a bike in more than two months. We'll stop at the top of every incline, that's for sure!
