Latrinus busy with this mad race from Natal to Cape offroad, unaided. A few days ago he left Cradock, rode for 7 hours and were allmost where he started. Cant read maps, ha, ha.

Slept one night outside near Rhodes at -6 Celcius.

The big news is that master rider Tim James (previous winner of Sedgefield fat tyre festival) broke the record by 2 days, riding the last 500k's on a single speed after his jockey broke! C'mon mr McLean, there's a record you can chase!

check the interesting daily updates on the website, www.freedomchallenge.org.za

I think Latrinus will aim for Knysna and bum a lift home, needs to work a bit next week, allready lost 10k's.

Latest from Carinus by sms. "Ek shortcut vandag na willowmore, more tot op prins albert...kom dan saterdag hystoe...moet dinsdag begin werk"

This race must be 10 times worse than the Epic.

it's pretty darn tough, but more in an adventure racing constant on the go kinda way......but if you follow tim james' wheel for a few days then the nav stuff gets easier.

the HR never gets that high, i found i walked up hills that in a xc race would be ridden. you just can't push it when you in the saddle 12 hrs+ day after day.

people immediately ask if i'd do it again, don't see why not. final sums would probably be about ~R15k and three weeks off work
