Hello Ruan Posted July 20, 2021 Share 1 hour ago, CraigT48 said: Speak to Wayne at Rapide ... he may be able to build you a Tigre for a similar price. Tigre will blow the Marlin out the water i.t.o capability with far more progressive geometry and durability with a 4130 CrMo frame. His customer service is unmatched in SA Frames – Rapide This is the best advice I have read online in a long time. I would 100% go with the Tigre, I wouldn't even think twice. scubes

He unfortunately can’t do a built bike due to not having any components due to this shortage ! Can however supply a frame and I build. I guess what I’ll have to look at now is what would cost for a groupo forks and wheels and weigh that up against the cost of the trek I love the build process so that’s no issue it’s just weather or not I can find parts and at what cost. Or am I better off buying 2nd hand maybe slightly older higher spec bike for around the same money? I hope you have not bought a bike yet but the marlin 8 is a good bike for the money but the Marlon 7 is also a good bike for the money for a mor entry level bike and it will last the only difference is the drive train and the fork but those two bike are good but you must choose if witch one to get but if you get the 8 the sram sx is srams entry level drive train a it does seem to brake

I am very tempted to upgrade the fork to 120mm. Although, the bike is awesome with 100mm travel. Enough for my kind of riding. And this build can easily win local races, I just need to up my fitness. Already 2 x 2nd places under the belt. TheoG
Chip Posted December 9, 2021 Share I also love the Rapide Tigre frame, absolutely beautiful nd versatile. This could also be a good option if it's your size...https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/518918/2020-silverback-slade Edited December 9, 2021 by Chip
