Hi everyone kinda new into the whole mountain biking scene been doing it for just under a year now. I am on my 3rd hardtail and was thinking why not go dual suspension. I then saw a bike for sale that suits my budget but I've never came across the name before. It's called Hurricane and it carbon aswell. So I tried googling about this specific bike and I couldn't find anything about it. Would be very helpful if someone could guide me on whether these are decent bikes or not and if its better to stay away

So would you suggest in your own opinion that it's a good bike or should one rather move along. Components look decent aswell everything was SLX so doesn't seem too bad

A friend of mine has been riding a Hurricane for about 4-5 years now, and he is very happy with the bike.  He imported the frame only, and then did a custom build to complete the bike.  I'll share this link with him and he can then maybe comment...  Alternatively I'll share his number via PM if he agrees and you can get in touch directly with him.

Could this be the same guy who is selling it. It's a guy from Worcester he says he built the bike from frame up. Thanks for the feed back though I think I've made my mind up and will probably go for it👍

Hi GM@n - as Stephan mentioned, I also ride a Hurricane. Have had it for 3 years now and have done about 12K on it, a good portion of those kilos are singletrack and jeeptrack and it is still going strong (my bikes take a lot of abuse...).

The frames are imported by Eugene van Zyl from Cycle Inn in Milnerton and then he do custom builds as mentioned. The big upside is that you get to build up a bike at a nice discount compared to what you would pay for a big name brand in a bikeshop. The downside is obviously that your frame is not backed by a warranty from a large company, you have to go to Eugene if something goes wrong.

I have a few friends/acquaintances that also ride Hurricanes - they are all very happy (afaik)

You can PM me if you want Eugene's contact details

Don't know the current prices (and the availability with covid hitting imports) - but a year or so ago the full suspension frames were going for around R14K
