Maxxis CrossMark

I have replaced my Kenda SB8 on the rear wheel with a CrossMark and tested it last night at GroenKloof. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

First impressions are good.

Better grip that the SB8 in the dry and rocky stuff, still have to see what it can do in mud. It doesn't roll as fast as the SM8. I just hope that it is strong. I tend to destroy rear tires

this is a dry tyre, won some last year and still use them, but not int he wet, prepare to fall if you ride wet areas ....

Did the freedom challenge this year on a pair. Front still looks new after 2300 km and back is good for lots of training still. IMO the best tyre on the market. Broke a collar bone when a new Bontrager front tyre delaminated and went flat suddenly @ 60km/h. Back bontrager didnt last 1500 km.

Crossmark is great but mud is the weak point, it just holds it all.

I love my SB8 onboth front and rea. Never tried Crossmark but I have been a fan of TT for a long time. IMO tires are the same as bike - very little difference really - just preference.

Still think the Maxxis Larsen TT's provide better grip. On Crossmarks my front tend to wash out quite easily in corners.
