Nice idea, and would be great fun but logisticaly it is pretty difficult, also changes the complexion of the race. do you have a rest day and then the night stage followed by another rest day. I would prefer a non stop Epic, you just ride till you finish or die, once again logistics are a problem as well as the slowly growning number of corpses next to the roadside.

Agree its a nice idea, but probably left for the prologue where you don't need such fancy lights and you don't have 1000+ riders in a bunch!

hmmmmm ... cool idea but I wouldn't like to ride a night in the epic :( let alone a day :) eish

The Cape Epic is supposed to be the hardest thing you've ever done on a bike. No offence, 1000 or 10 000 riders does not matter. I just think, that for the organizers to claim that, it should include all elements of MTBing, which inlcudes night riding.

The logistics and lights is just admin. I think.Shocked

Sell lights? Not really. Would be nice though.

No, was just thinking and wondering what other hubbers would think about the idea.

Tromps, the idea is not new. It was pitced to the event organisers some months ago. I understand that it is/was under consideration for a future Cape Epic event.

So I guess all we can do is watch this space...

Reading that post about the organisers of the event changing the starting point and maybe making it short but still eight days of riding can only mean one thing.

HIER KOM GROOT K*K. I hope you guys entereing for next year are already in some form of pre-training. I respectively think that they are going to make it freaking hard!
