I’ve bought a Swift Evil Twin frame but am unsure about the specifics of the thruaxle requirements.

It’s a 12x142, but specifically thread pitch is a bit of a, well *pitch* to figure out. P1.5 and P1.75 is pretty damn close, so can’t really measure anything meaningful on the frame itself.

Does anyone maybe have one or can share some insights please?

Unfortunately they haven’t had Swift for years. Quite frustrating that there’s simply zero tech specs online

You need a thread pitch gauge to confirm. They are not that expensive. I would think its most likely a 1.5 or smaller. You could also get anthor axle or m12 bolt with a known pitch and compare the threads.

Thanks. I tried a 1.75, and it does thread all the way in, but almost feels a bit loose. Not sure if there’s just some wear, or if it’s the wrong size.

Do you perhaps know if a 1.5 and 1.75 would at all thread in, or would it completely not work?

Sounds silly, but I can’t confirm just with the eye. Too close together.

Well how many standards are there?  3 I think? 1.0, 1.5 and 1.75. If you say you could thread a 1.75 in without forcing anything it has to be that imo. They are not remotely cross compatible. Forcing the wrong one will get hung up/ stuck and start ripping/cutting threads only a few turns in. Go buy a 1.0 pitch bolt and n 1.75pitch nut and see what happens when you force it.  I also do t think they look thst close. 1.0 is very fine, 1.75 almost like a normal galvanised m12 bolt.

i have all three at home in different bikes.

Is the thread in the frame ‘clean’? As in it doesn't look like it was a 1.5 and a 1.75 was forced though?

Msybe use this methid to check if you can:

https://www.roofracks.co.uk/thru-axle-thread-pitch

There are three sizes of bike thru axle thread pitch, these are known as P1.0, P1.5 and P1.75.  To identify your bikes thru axle thread pitch simply count the number of threads within a 10 mm section.”

  • P1.0 - Number of threads is 10 (Syntace)
  • P1.5 - Number of threads is approximately 7 (Shimano)
  • P1.75 - Number of threads is under 6 (Maxle)

there is also a better pic of them next to each other at scale:
