Headshot Posted March 16, 2023 Share Anyone ever tried this - I have a puncture filled 24" tube on my sons bike that needs an improvement on the slime that's in there which isn't working very well...
dasilvarsa Posted March 16, 2023 Share Yes you can "puncture fill" any tube if the Valve Core is not removable. Use the Genuine Slime Brand, you can get it at Sportsmans. About 80 mils Edited March 16, 2023 by dasilvarsa Headshot
Nico van Loggerenberg Posted March 16, 2023 Share Biggest issue I've found is that the syringe quickly gets clogged if the sealant has any significant fibres or fillers in. Headshot
Headshot Posted March 16, 2023 Share I agree the genuine green slime works well, but I was asking where some Stans tyre sealant would work in a tube. I suspect it would get messy...

It works, but you can't patch the tube afterwards Sealant in tubes works better than you would think Headshot

Shebeen Posted March 16, 2023 Share i currently use enduroseal in the kids bike tubes. the black lid thing is a valve core remover for schraeder valves. works fine for small punctures, just don't tempt snakebites because then you're schnaaaaied. tubeless rims for kids would be cool, but they don't seem to exist Headshot
ChrisF Posted March 16, 2023 Share Sludge - the one with the Rhino on the bottle Maritz used this in three different bikes before he got to a size where we could get tubeless tyres. It worked very well for us
ct_rider Posted March 16, 2023 Share You can remove the valve core on both presta and schrader valves, I removed by daughters schrader valve on her 16 inch tube and inserted stans sealant. Another option is to insert a tyre liner between the tube and tyre. I used to MTB (marathon bike) with with a tyre liner before going tubeless and I my tubes did not puncture. Used to ride a lot on table mountain and kirstenbosch. Even raced with the tyre liner, it is very effective. dasilvarsa
dasilvarsa Posted March 16, 2023 Share Stans might not work as it contains no fibres. It's Propylene Glycol + Latex + Water To Plug Puncture in Tube Some Sort of Fibres like Cellulose or similar are needed. https://www.notubes.com/pub/media/wysiwyg/GIS-004_R3_Stans_Tire_Sealant_SDS_GHS.pdf The Best Results I had is from Pre Filled Genuine Slime Tubes. (expensive) Even these holes can open again when tyre is inflated and the tubes only last about six months. After six months the sealant becomes faulty and stops fixing punctures. I did manage to patch them by using sandpaper before applying the glue. Edited March 17, 2023 by dasilvarsa Headshot and ct_rider
