Eye protection; one bumble bee to the eye is enough. Polychromatic D'Arcs are reasonably priced and mine have lasted well.

Nearly got taken out by a "lesser spotted Cape skrop-hoener", aka tarrentaal, on Saturday. Had I hit him at 25km/h, a full fairing might not have saved me despite wearing head- and eye-gear worth R10k.

Most accessories could be subjected to this one test .............. "it depends"

As @MORNE  and others mentioned, many potential cyclists are scared off this sport by the cost of the so-called "essentials".

Hi.

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the Ciovita Corsa 2.0 and the Cargo bibs ?

Except for the pockets. Website is not clear. 

It seems that they have the same chamois. I am assuming this is a Corsa with side pockets ?

I think that is correct, same pad
The bib design is based off our second generation Corsa bib shorts, so they carry forward all of the fit and fabrication technology from these bibs.

The defining feature of the Cargo Bib are the two side and two back mesh pockets, which offer extra storage space for stowing items you may need on your ride. Perfect for phone storage or keeping energy top ups at hand.

strange, I always get compliments from the people cycling behind me when wearing a nice tight red thong!
