Hi everyone,

Can any of you please advise on any kids mountain bike racing format thats available in Gauteng?

My kids used to participate in the Like to Bike events, but they no longer exists.

Any/all advice would be greatly appreciated

The old SPUR series is now here -

Home - Schools Cycling South Africa

Each province has their own program for the year.  Normally only published a bit later though ...

The Trailseeker series also has a kids series, though this is probably just one event close to you .... still very nice.

Does anyone have links or more information about the Gauteng Primary Schools MTB Series this year as mentioned by Sally E Kirk

Not much info, but I can tell you about the groups:

From last year, there were 5 or 6 race days (though I’m not entirely sure). Hazeldean and Prime View are two venues I remember.

What age is your child, and what distances are you interested in?

As mentioned, Trailseeker has some shorter distances, and is quite well organised. We normally camp for the Sondela race and make a weekend of it.

I have two boys aged 6 and 9

The 6 year old we would like to get exposed to cycling - Like to bike used to have age appropriate races for this age group. So looking for something similar

Our oldest in 9 - Again I'd guess anything between 5 and 20km distance wise

Kindly note their age as of 31 December 2025 is used to determine in which groups they race.

I have seen a kid do well, to then be DQ'd because he was supposed to ride in the next group ....
