Hi

I've battled a bit with pins n needles on my roadbike after an hour.

My size 44 shoes are quite snug so I bought a pair of 45 from a hubber and they just feel very big. It seems sizes vary a bit by brand?

I've considered trying inner soles to tighten things up - does anyone have experience using inner soles?

Buying new shoes right now isn't an option.....

Yes, I always use inner soles.  Mostly I use the Specialised ones with the adjustable insole but they can be expensive.

I use bigger shoes than I normally use and put inner soles inside, this works for me over several days of cycling.

Thanks. Are the Dischem (not their bottom of range) type any good?Screenshot_20250122_084231_Chrome.jpg.bcd41f422deb419c8f6e6fc14372a379.jpg

No idea whether these are any good. I also use the Spez inners which come in three colour coded models, shallow medium and high

I see the Spez ones are R650...ouch

My first clipless were cycle lab cheapies GTL.. bought a size smaller and they still felt too big so I bought these insoles from Sportsmans warehouse, there are different types for a higher arch or medium arch etc.. made a hell of a difference.. like complete uncomfortable dogsh$t to comfortable.

I keep them as spares now as I’ve upgraded to Lake since..

I wouldn't use these. You need something firmer. I have a selection of the Spez ones in size 43 I can send you. I no longer use them as I need higher arch support. I'm in CT, you can collect or cover the shipping. DM me.

Tomik has very kindly sent me some Spez soles.....shows what special people tread the halls of the Hub.

Thank you;

I know OP doesn't want to splurge on new shoes but the wide toe box on the Lake shoes has been very good for my feet which are a biomechanical disaster.

I also use the pricey G8 insoles and the metdomes which have helped - still fine tuning them.

My Lakes are a 44 and fit 99% ok. Lots of arch support and maybe a tiny bit short but they are reaching the end of the road. They are 11 years old, I've done a carbon repair on one sole when a car parked on my toes after he hit me from a side road - I kid you not. I've twice had to glue all three soles on one shoe together and they are basically a bunch of kangaroo hide and carbon loosely held in formation by contact adhesive, but I love them.
