Does anyone out there know much about this technology and whether any alternative method exists to get this back to working order. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Any advice would be really appreciated. they should be serviceable, my trials bike one also packet up and opened it up replaced the bearing, gave a good clean and regrease. you might need special tools
