Hi all

so yesterday I took a trip OTB on my ride. As a result my basically new. XT master cylinders and bar are looking quite second hand. Is there anyone who does parts referbishment. Specifically the brakes. I’m sure a carbon expert can get the bars looking sweet again, but the brakes are a different story. Let me know 👍🏻

Not sure the extent of the damage, but I would not trust a carbon bar that has been damaged in an accident.

If you are sure the damage is just cosmetic, you could sand out the scratches in the clear coat (avoid sanding too much, if any, of the carbon). Starting with a 400 grit and working towards a 2000 grit. A polish with a good rubbing compound after will work wonders. To get it looking completely new, a coat of clear coat will get it new.

I did this with my rc car and it looked new.

Anything more than cosmetic damage and you would be better off replacing it.

As long as it's just the clear coat or not structural you can sort the bars.

A few years ago I got taken out by a car and he ended up parked across my toes (I kid you not), effectively breaking my carbon sole. I got hold of some carbon resin, cloth and peelply, did the repair and refinished both and my shoes were better than new.

Damage to the bars is cosmetic AFAI can see. Seems I went OTB and the bike did a bit of a jumping marlin. Nothing more with no heavy impacts. Honestly, I’m more annoyed by the scratches on the brake lever and master cylinders
