I recently bought a pair of used favero assioma pro RS2 power pedals. Unfortunately I had to wait for shimano cleats as I previously used look ones. So since agreeing to buy the pedals until today they’ve sat for around 2 months or so.  They were completely unresponsive, quickly put them on the charger and all seemed good, they were in some kind of sleep mode I guess because they were half charged. I have paired them without issues however when I went for a test ride just now I couldn’t get any live data. They are paired to both my wahoo and my phone but there is no cadence or power. In app they say “active” as soon as I spin the crank but that’s it. I have recalibrated them from my phone and head unit with ease so I’m baffled. I’ve put them on charge and will leave them on for a few hours to see if that maybe helps but I’d appreciate any input, maybe someone else has experienced this before?

I haven’t yet contacted the seller as he’s a well respected member of the cycling community here and I don’t want to point fingers just yet.

Put them on a 24hr uninterrupted charge cycle and see what they do. Can work sometimes. If not. Log a support ticket through the Favero app. They will give you some tests to follow and upload for them.

Hope they come right

Thanks, will do.
I just hope the power doesn’t go out then.

Did you look at the website FAQ. https://cycling.favero.com/en/faq

I've installed Assioma and can't see power data. Why?

When it is installed for the first time (and every time it is mounted on a new bike), it is necessary for Assioma to carry out an internal self-calibration to be able to transmit the power data. Self-calibration occurs by performing a few dozen pedal strokes, while sitting and in a uniform manner. We therefore recommend pedaling on flat terrain for it to correctly happen.

Also

What is the Assioma "travel mode"?

Assioma has a smart auto-off system based on pedaling motion to prevent unintentional battery discharge: there is no need to turn Assioma off manually when you don't use it.

However, in some situations such as flights, you might want to turn it off completely.
To do so, put Assioma on "travel mode" in the settings of your Favero Assioma app, exactly as you would do with your phone.

Remember to bring the magnetic charger with you to exit the "travel mode" status and wake the pedals up again.

Unfortunately it’s none of the above. I have checked, all software is up to date as well.

24 hours later and I just tested them, nothing.
Definitely disappointed, I’ll reach out to support and the seller next.

So sorry man, that sucks. Reach out to support. They are extremely helpful and will give you a clear indication of what would be wrong.

Thanks, I have just done that.

it really does because getting parts where I am is tricky due to the tiny cycling community in the country.

Have you tried connecting them only to your head unit? Cannot connect via bluetooth to 2 different systems at the same time? (Phone and head unit)

Yes I have, I rode for about 8 km with it just connected to my head unit trying to see if some riding would get it working. Also tried just connecting my phone. Sadly nothing.

Howsit

So I bought a "as new" set of pedals while back as backup because my bearing went due gravel use. They only worked once paid 10k for them.

Sent pedals Bicyclepowertrading and came back as one was faulty and quoted 6k repair.

My conclusion is these pedals were very long on shelf without being charged and battery failed.

I was lucky enough get a full refund from seller.

Goodluck man

Eish, thanks for the input. The batteries do seem fine with mine. But I do also wonder if they could be the cause.

I'm not a technical guy but it sounds like they're not happy being paired to two devices. I only ever use the app for firmware updates and then immediately disconnect them. Perhaps that "line" of communication is still active/open. Perhaps try a factory reset if possible and then only connect to the Wahoo.

I've had mine for many years with not a single problem - been left for a month has no impact on the battery (unless of course there is a fault somewhere). Good luck, they're great pedals when they work.

Thanks, I have had it connected to one device at a time for extended periods without any luck. Even went for an 8km ride to see if that would get them working. During that time they weren’t paired to my phone.

As far as I know you can’t do a reset on the pedals if that’s what you’re saying. The closest I’ve come would be putting them in travel mode and then putting them on the charger to get them awake again.

from: https://www.powerlab.com.au/post/favero-assioma-faqs#:~:text=To restore all the functions,Assioma as soon as possible.

Assioma has a Bootloader mode that safeguards the operation of your power meter in case of unexpected events while updating the firmware (e. g. sudden shutdown of the mobile phone). Assioma enters this safety mode by deactivating all non-essential functions, including LED lighting. Assioma might seem off but actually is waiting to be restored through the Favero Assioma App.
To restore all the functions of Assioma, go to the search section of the Favero Assioma app, find the device in BOOTLOADER mode (indicated in red) and press on the "RESTORE" button. Once the recovery is complete, you can restart the firmware update.

Thanks. I hadn’t seen that. But they don’t seem to be in that state as the lights are working and I can connect and calibrate.
