Shimano 11sp STI shifter - only works 'upside down'

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem .... Shimano 11sp (105 in this case) right shifter gets 'stuck'

If you take the shifter off the bike and hold it upside down it works fine 😒

Shimano shifters are not 'serviceable' IYKYK

Had some time (a whole morning) so 'tore it down', identified where the problem lies, now to find a way to solve it. Have tried a few options, works for a few shifts then stops 😒

Will have another go this morning .... anyone maybe solved it?

Sorted 😎

Using a piece of elastic mind you, how well it will last remains to be seen! Will fit it to a lesser used gravel bike for now and see how it goes 😁

Lost a little grub screw during the fudging about, thank heavens for dremels. Managed to fashion something to work .....

Clearly need to strip it first .... I found instructions with a search on Google (YouTube). A bit fiddly but wasn't too bad

The problem 'widget' is the one I have pointed to here ... it sort of hangs down when it's upside down then it works but when it's 'right way' up it drops down onto the teeth. I have no idea what it's supposed to do but when I used a small piece of elastic to hold it up it shifts fine.

It's not on a bike I ride often but I did a 90k gravel race with that shifter recently with no problems

Hope that helps, sorry i don't have a link to the strip video anymore

Cheers. I stripped it down already but couldn't see anything obvious
