well ja i ride the same frame as you(newby007) and it feels well, extremely nice and sexily stiff with oh so much response. . . smiley2.gif smiley17.gif smiley17.gif smiley1.gif dunno why everyone else is complainin! you no why? cause they all bought 12k frames that weigh over 1400grams and now raleigh has made a frame that weighs less than 1000grams for CHEAP CHEAP my bra. smiley36.gif smiley36.gif smiley1.gif

Pity they have not realised the most of the bicycle Frames are made in the same factories in TAIWAN or CHINA...

Its all the R & D that Dedaccai puts into the Raleigh design taht makes it

such a pleasure to ride-- All the MTN "teams" cant be wrong!!

I must say I did like my old raleigh frame, but outgrew it...

I do also way prefer my Specialized frame and yes I know they are made in Taiwan.

I know someone that used to be sponsored by raleigh but hated every day he rode his raleigh.

Its whatever fits you the best.  The new colours look pretty cool, lets see how stiff they are with such a drop in weight.

TongueHey GIRR

YOUR FRAME SERVED ME WELL,

Ive moved up to the 08 Team .. and the 6000 gone on to make

another upgrader's year....

The 08 frame is much stiffer, and 15% lighter...

I have had no complaints on either,

I will always ride, my RALEIGHS... just my choice....

This is Taiwanon>' date=' the kings of carbon mfg. All the big Italian and USon> name carbon frames (and alloy) are manufactured here or at their sites in Chinaon> as Raleigh carbon frames are. The place in Chinaon> that makes Raleigh?s carbon frames makes 4,000 carbon frames a month and 30,000 carbon forks a month for instance.

Kinesis whacks out 5,000 frames a week (!) at one of their factories in Chinaon> for a huge number of manufacturers. Check their site out as the numbers are truly mind blowing. Giant makes 3 or 4 carbon models for Colnago now.

They are really good at it. Now how many of you would like to see pictures of the engine blocks etc of you BMWs and Mercedes being manufactured in Indiaon> and else where?

I guess a lot of the anti Raleigh stuff here is because these guys have spent R27,000 or there about, on a Cervelo or Colnago (frame only) and a complete Raleigh of the quality, same ride costs less than that frame did. Imagine how these people feel when they are beaten across the line by an RC?

LOL, not all euro companies flog their work out to China. I import high end alloy wheels out of Europe, and trust me these okes are so fanatical about their stuff that they make it themselves in Italy. Been there and seen it for myself, that said, they also have a second brand which is made in China.

In China you get what you pay for, you want cheap they will give you cheap. But if you demand quality you will get quality and pay for it.

So no, I don't think Raleigh is BAD, however I think they need to Market the PnP, Makro, Game specials under a new name. I don't see BMW selling the Mini as BMW or Lexus as Toyota or Fiat as Ferrari.

I think they need a shakeup on their marketing.

ELITE, DEDACCAI, These are the Raleigh Brands not ava

In the Mass Stores... What is so difficult??

Go to LBS for a decent Top end Raleigh, for entry level go to Supermarket........

Mini is a Chrysler, Bmw, cross breed.......

MG was also a BMW crossbreed.....

There are no true Brands left in the World.. the Global market is too expensive and shared costs = profits = sustainable business....

newby007,

I take your point, but Fiat is not sold with a Ferrari Badge, nor is the Mini or MG with a BMW Badge,

oh and those Brands you mentioned are not Raleigh, Raleigh is associated with them.

Hi,

sorry for my late reply, but I'll try to answer all questions.

Mampara and Tikki, the women's bike is not pink or baby blue, because if I did that my wife would kill me :-). Believe me there are women who don't want a pink flower design.

The frame is actually the same frame as we use for the  men's bikes, so it's not a women's specific geometry. I know, this is not perfect, but changing geometries on a carbon frame means opening new molds, and the quantities we sell are not enough to cover the costs just for one model. This is why only the big ones like Scott offer real women's specific frames, all others do the same as what we do. What is women's specific on this bike is the saddle, the stem lengths, handlebar shape and width, the shift/brake levers and the crank lengths.

Stringbean, what you see on the chainstays is a pivot. It's a fully active real 4-link design with a Horst-link. And as long as we don't sell the bikes to America, Specialized can't do anything. Their patent is just an american patent, not worldwide.

Regarding the discussion about the brand name unfortunately what masood says is correct.

From the marketing and image perspective using the same brand name for very cheap and very expensive stuff does not really work. That is why Toyota created Lexus (and Toyota's image is still much better than many other car brand's image), why VW separates Seat from Audi and why Opel can't sell sports cars.

We could built the best bike ever, if it would cost more than R 50,000 noone would buy it. If Specialized would sell the same bike for R 100,000 they'd sell thousands. I can complain about this, but at the end it doesn't help. I can tell the people that our enty level range has absolutely nothing in common with our Elite range (not even the screw supplier is the same), but at the end only a few people are listening, and there are only 2 options for us: Keep Raleigh as the number one value for money brand in SA and stay away from super expensive carbon fullsuspension designs or sell the high end bikes under a different brand name. We obviously choose the value for money option and I think there's nothing wrong with it. Creating a high end brand is very difficult and takes a long time to built that image. Maybe this is something we should  think about for future, but so far I'm actually very happy riding my "bad" RC Ltd :-).

And to those who still think that Raleigh builds bad bikes and the MTN riders actually hate the bikes and could win even more races if they would just ride better bikes: There is a Crit race series in PE in January, and I will take part. Come with your Cervelos and Giants and try to beat me! Wink

Perhaps you should sell Fiat some of your Ferrari Red chicks. Or Raleigh.
