Hi

I am busy building up my wifes bike out of spare parts lying around as she is aiming to do the Cape Town Cycle Tour.  I have a set of Campag Vento wheels with a shimano freehub 10 speed.  I would like to convert this to a 11 speed as I have a set of spare 11 speed shifters and derailleurs.  I saw there is lots of different ways to machine the free body or the cluster etc.  I would prefer not to do that as these are still my training wheels on my TT bike and would like to use them again later (on the occasion I do a Triathlon again).

Would I be able to buy a shimano 11 speed freehub to swap around for the 10 speed freehub that would fit on a campag wheel.    If this is possible if you can point me to who can get this for me in South Africa.  Or is there a 11 speed cluster that would fit on the 10 speed freehub.

Or if this is not possible then I may need to look at buying a set of 11 speed wheels.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I recently did the whole 10sp to 11sp conversion.  All the bikes in our stable were 10sp Campag Chorus with Campag wheels, which incidentally can take 9, 10, 11 or 12sp Campag clusters but converting to Campag 11sp shifters was pricey.

So in the end I bought Shimano 11sp Ultegra old stock and then (and this is where it might work for you) sent my spare wheels down to Nick the Wheelbuilder where he built in Rapide 11sp Shimano hubs to replace the old 10sp ones.

You can pick up a set of decent 10sp rim-brake wheels now for good value and a Rapide hub is about R1300.  That was the most cost effective for me in the end.
