Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy a new mountainbike...

And would like to know from the experiences of my fellow mountainbikers; What is the best shox to choose? (what is the dis-/advantages of the shox)

Rockshox Reba vs Recon?Or Fox shox?

Any advise would be appreciated

Welcome to the Hub!

I can't say I've used any of the above, but Fox seem to be in a league of their own. I'd say you can't go wrong there.

Good luck!

I have the Recon and my sister the Reba. Till date we haven't had any problems with them, and I tend to be hard on my shox's. Both are nice and responsive.

I prefer the maintenance-free full cromoly forks with the retro air suspension system inside the tyres.....Wink

I think Fox's are overpriced (but are great shocks), the Recon offers good value for money and is a solid shock, more than adequate for most peoples needs.

Fox are the best oem forks........only cause they are so expensive after market.......

Fox if money is not an issue.

Rock Shox are great value for money and solid performers.

Got a fox f 100 rlc and a 36 vanilla rc 2, both excellent forks, and rp23 shocks on both bikes, can't go wrong with FOX...

There's a lot to be said for this option, especially if you're running tubeless and can go lower pressure.

The new Manitou R7 MRD only weighs 1.25kg. I have one and its a fantastic fork. Has rescued my butt a few times when other forks would have bottomed out.  It has a variable lockout function that gets stiffer the more you turn the dial. Will not get anything else. Will buy it again if i need another fork.  Buy now!

Rock Shox Reba.

Fox is overpriced and overated.

Rock Shox have excellent damping circuits and you can get a Reba to feel more Fox like with a simple oil change.
