Looking for an IDT - budget will only stretch to second hand - want to avoid going down the buy cheap, buy twice road....

Recommendations and advice on what to look for, look out for, what is good, and what is best avoided like the plague....

Gonna be using the thing for regular training so will be well used and needs to be up to the job

Also, is there anything I should look out for using PT on the IDT?

Any and all advice greatfully received

Elite Crono Wireless is the business.

Fluid or electro magnetic resistance is the best out there currently, which limits you to fairly expensive IDT's.

The other very good option is the Tacx Flow.

Can I post a pic of some cheerleaders now?

Bit unnecessary don't you think?  This is a cycling thread, not a "free for all" thread.

I would recommend the Cateye CS 1000. This product has been on the market for 15 years now and has never been fiddled with. It still looks the same as on day one. It is just about perfect. Spares, even more obscure ones like some rubbers, are readily available from the importers.

It works with magnetic resistance where a copper disk rotates between two magnets. Nothing to leak or wear out in there. Further, it can be used with or without a fan which mimicks wind resistance. The faster you go, the more wind resistance you experience. I've disabled my fan because it makes too much noise. Once you've disabled the fan, you change a setting in the computer and it compensates for the change. The computer is simple, using just two screens to show you average speed, incline, power generated, current speed and elapsed time. It doesn't store data, doesn't plug into your home lan, doesn't generate graphs and doesn't require yet another transformer with a silly two-prong European plug. It is a true, honest-to-goodness device.

It is the most perfect, stable bicycle product I own.

Morning TNT1 - in a better mood today so had myself a sly giggle at your request for dancing girls...

Thanks to everyone else for the advice - kinda tough when the budget is tight. Nobody wants to buy a steaming mountain of dog phoo simply because they didn't have the required product knowledge....

R1000 would be the very top - hence I'm in the second hand market; the thing will get regular and prolonged use, so has to stand up to the job. What is tight is the available repair / replacement budget.... i.e. R0000.... so I definitely can't go buying the aforementioned steaming pile of phoo....! LOL need to make the right purchase first time out

buy cheap, buy twice is ringing in my ears...  buy cheap, buy twice, buy cheap, buy twice.........  some kinda horrible awake nightmare Dead

I can also vouch for the Elite as I have one. I've noticed quite a few in the classifieds (people do find them very boring to use even though they're very good) so keep browsing, including ebay/bid or buy/junkmail.

I got a RavX one for about R750- 8 speed I think, brand new.

I think in the 2 years I've had it, I might have used it 20 times. I hate cycling on the thing, its just not the same, but yes it does give you the alternative to riding in the wet.
