TitusTi' date=' wasn't there a rival theory that Beloki locked the rear under braking, got caught in some melted tar and that was what ripped the tubby off the rim?

Now I REALLY do not want to re-open the tubby vs. clinchers can of worms, I just  want to know what those of you who ride tubbies do if you flat during a race.  Do you call it game over and wait for the broom wagon or do you glue on a spare?

My current approach is to use clinchers, find it a bit easier. Tubbies are nice if you're a mechanic or a pro or can pay someone (you trust) to do all the work on them.

Yeah I heard the rival theory as well, at the end of the day the tyre shouldn't have been ripped off the rim, tubby or not.

I use a sealant to mend most punctures (made by Vittoria in an aerosol) if I flat in a race.

Beloki - I think if you watch that it is pretty clear that the tub was ripped off by the fall and not the cause of the fall.

Tub or clincher he was going down IMO. If you flat a clincher on a fast descent or in a corner, that tyre will be off the rim fast.

Do tell us more Ti???!?! I got such a fright when Fatty told me in the middle of the race my tubby is coming lose' date=' he was just kidding but I did not know so I moved to the back and asked a few ppl if this was true...not funny fatty, will get you!Angry[/quote']

Cmon M - don't have a sense of humour failure (it was actually me that put the idea into Fatty's mischievous head)

It was funny at the time and helped us forgt about that miserable weather for a few seconds.

DC with them, hope not..........................

And now you're getting racing tubbies.

My experience with tyre made for racing is the look for a flat to happen.

I woudth thaugh that having Marius in your racing team' date=' (as the main peanut) in the bikemax team, the maintenance should be handled by his dedicated machenic.

Bikemax.. You better look after this diamand, he might just decide to jump the fence. smiley2.gif [/quote']

Pops - if Marius jumped the fence he would no doubt catch himself on some barbed wire and fall on his arse over the other side and then break his bike as he landed on it.

In all seriousness, he always gives it 100% - it's just that his equipment is just not up to the job Wink
