Children's bikes

Need to upgrade my fleet of kids bikes to suit children aged 8-12 years old. All my adult bikes are Silverback's but I have had pretty sh*tty support from Silverback . Any?suggestions?

I bought my kid a Giant MTX 250, Pretty decent kit for the price.

Depends where you buy, I would say anything between R2500 and R3k

There was also a Raleigh Strike 24" for around R1800, but the kit on it was not as good.

the new giant stock is round the 3k mark. if you're looking at 24-inchers for kids, look at avavlanche's range for kids.

Scott's are nice but, the price is way more than the Giant or the other brands. The Avalanche bikes also had a decent group set compared to the Raleigh.

This may sound stupid, but why not just buy frames and transfer the groupsets?

Yes we are. I found that Goed koop is duur koop. The cheaper bikes are just have endless niggles and the Groupsets are also crappy.

Well I have to disagree 100% . My "crappy" bikes have outlasted my bling bikes without exception . Still got my first MTB bought in 1999 . Still original (blades , chains etc ) after doing 6 Argus and countless MTB races . Problem with kids are that they actually grow very fast .

I have to buy ten bikes so price is pretty important. The terrain that will be cycled is pretty flat and easy. Bikes should not take to much of a pounding. Then again, kids can be pretty hard on a bike!

That is why you need a bike that got steel groupset . Like Holly said in an earlier post , the Avalance series are very good bikes for kids .

exactly what I was thinking.. my kids are growing so quickly that I have to replace their bikes annually.... they consider themselves lucky to get El-cheapo Raleighs, but maybe I'm just old-fashioned in this regard
