I want to enter the Cape Argus next year and have to pay for the temp license although I will register with a club next year. What a lot of nonsense. I don't want to register with a club now as I will not participate in any events any more. Why not rather allow me to update my details next year or refuse me entrance by not giving me my entry documents.

Surely a better process can be thought of. smiley7.gif

beesboer, welcome to cycling.

This is why cycling is a recreational activity and not a sport.  Even the administrators can't take themselves or the sport seriously.

I think the new licenses for next year will go on sale sometime this month' date=' so hold off on the Argus entry for a while

I would be careful doing that. By all accounts it will be fully booked before the middle of the month.

I was not yet a member of a club when I booked for last year's race. I got around around it by simply selecting the club I was intending to join from the box.

By the time I got to having to be seeded and having to collect my entry stuff, I was a member of the club and they had scrapped the license requirement anyway.

If they haven't yet updated the system to actually check that you are a club member at the time of entering, then you could do the same thing.

Club list been updated.

If your club not there, select any I guess, since it has no bearing,m actually,m on which club you will belong to next year?

Guys it is wrong to expect cyclist to pay the day license fee upfront, this should be collected at race registration only as many cyclist will be joining clubs once there is clarity on the manner in which licenses will be handled in the future and at that point may be members of a club by then.

Is there a process in place to refund such cyclist who have entered already and will be able to prove club membership come the Argus?

Welcome to the hub Beesboer.

I think you're looking at this from the wrong angle; you should be thinking along the lines of riding more races between now and next year. This will not only improve your fitness but then the associated costs of joining a club/CSA will be spread over the whole period.

Spring season in PPA-land starts this weekend and it's followed later in the year by the summer league of races leading conveniently up to the Argus.

Train more, race more, and a sub-3 is easily on the cards. You know it makes sense Clap

A point of interest who actually gets to keep the day license fees collected, is it the organizers, hosting club, provincial body or CSA?

I know from experience it's not the club or organisers...
