Not pointing fingures at you:

When people go out and buy new stuff they dont always find out the correct information first.

When must people on thehub bought a bicycle they went to lots of shops and read lots of info on the internet and sked advice from thehub and friends and thats how they make informed decisions.

Now when it comes to DSTV and HD everyone wants the be that guy that has HDDTSV so he can invite his mates over to watch the HD Sport on his NEW TV and HDDSTV and he hurries off to the shops to get his new braging rights before his buddy does, and there u are wasting your money on stuff that has not been resurched properly.

Ok then for those of you wanting to rush out and get yourself a Blu Ray DVD Player - remember there is also a catch.

Get a profile 2 player and nothing less. You got profile 1 or profile 1.1 you are going to pick up problems later on.

Warrior of course you are correct BUT the crux of this whole issue is the way DSTV is advertising their products. I do research and was under the impression that a HDPVR could be linked to a single view decoder. However only upon really digging deep enough and coming across an honest installer did I find out the truth.

Look above at the Blu Ray post - did you know that? Do you think any salesman is going to tell you that? Did the manufacturers even bother to tell you that? Nope cause they all want to make a sale and unfortunately not many members of the public are prepared to spend 6 hours looking into all the ins and outs. Why should I have to spend this amount of time? Why does the manufacturer not just be honest about the product they are selling. Would you like it if you ordered a strawberry milkshake and when it came it was red but tasted like chocolate?

HUH Mampara you have me confused. Your DVD player is a normal SD. Blu Ray is a disk that plays HD. 2 cycling DVD's and 2 Cartoon DVD makes 4 DVDs so you are missing 6 out of your 10.

just saying I'm not into this techno crap. If my cd player did not pack up, I would still be without a DVD player.

The 6 disk not mentioned are art movies, 80's movies and 1 TV series.

Same here, got an old mnet ( one of the first ) decoder from my folks, watch mnet or whatever is on CSN or put the tv off. For the rest, home theathre with dvd player for live music dvd's. That's it, rather go light a fire and sit outside with the wifey, tanning some lambtjops than flip through channels the whole evening Big%20smile

multichoice have a long history of screwing over the customers, from the very beginning. They keep very quiet about new technologies, which forces you to replace obsolete stuff that never carries a rebate for upgrades.

it's a monopoly. imagine if astrasat survived?

So what you saying? Just stick with PVR then?

If you look at the amount of programs actually broadcast in HD anyway, its not worth it. The normal PVR would be enough to keep me happy.LOL
