Me - I'm neither here nor there about Andrew/Cyclelab. I have never bought anything from Cyclelab and probably never will - not because I don't like him but because Cyclelab is far from where I live and everytime I've phoned for a quote someone else has been cheaper.

I appreciate what he has done for cycling in SA. Big up to him for that.

As a bicycle racer I respect his skill but not his personality - I feel he crosses the competitive/aggresive line and has done a dubious things on a bike over the years. Some great things - some dubious things...

All in all I think cycling in SA is better off for having him around.

He gets my mixed blessing.

My 2c's

Have been visiting the shop since before they moved in to the Paulshof shop, when they were in a business park not far down the road from Sunninghill Hospital.

I have worked for the lab in the past, I have bought bikes from the lab, I have bought stuff for my wifes bike from the lab (and yes, they have a GREAT ladies section). I send mails re the epic and always get a friendly response, as I get whenever I walk in to the shop. Yes, I am also a member of the club.

No I do not think the sun sets when he sits, but I do think that he is a genuinely nice guy who loves his sport, loves what he does and yes he makes money from it. Great for him, he turned his passion in to his career, well done to him. I wish I could do the same.

OK - so it's been a couple of days since the last post on this thread, so

let's summarise what has transpired:

- people who either know or have actually met Andrew respect him,

  even if they don't all agree with him;

- people who don't like Andrew have typically never met him...

This may not have told us much about the subject person, but it

sure tells us a lot about poeple (yep as in "poep-hole")...
