Are these rims made of paper? Perhaps you can be more specific and tell us what your weight and rough terrain does to the rims as they roll.  I don't understand how the rims cause the wheels to go out of true.

What brand of rims are these and what properties must the new rims have to prevent all these maladies?

I don't know what a hub looks or reacts like that is "not happy." Surely you should be able to describe the syptoms a bit better?

You reported that the spokes need contant re-tensioning and then attributed the cause to lightweight rims ridden at very high speed over and through potholes. Something is amiss here. Lightweight rims (or any other rim for that matter) show other symptoms of failure than what you are describing.

A wheel ridden at 60kph into potholes fail by simple bending. You would have experienced a snakebite flat, a rim bead bent or entire rim deformed and spokes that are now several centimeters too long for the flat part of the rim. A simple retrue would not have fixed them.

I don't understand how a rim can be "a bit heavier" but "a lot stronger." Strength and weight is linear for similar shapes. It is either a bit heavier and a bit stronger or a lot heavier and a lot stronger.

But still, strength is just half the story. Durability is also pretty useful. I bet those Mavics you covet for their strength only have a single eyelet....oh dear.
