slowpoke Posted October 14, 2008 Share fand, trust me on this - sit down outside with a whole lot of them lined up.... then put them on one at a time. then make your choice. as i've previously said, if i could still use contact then i'd use d'arcs or BBB's. i can't. i need optical inserts. so sit witht he ones that can accomodate inserts and do the "test by trial" thing. then make your choice. then, a few months donw the line, when you are replacing your cheapies cos they are scratched start to think... boeing Posted October 14, 2008 Share Glasses need to various things to protect your eyes from harm. They must shield them from wind, dust etc and uv rays. You dont need photochromic lenses to protect your eyes from uv rays, however they are exceptionally handy in the fact that you dont need 20 different set of lenses for your glasses, you just need the one. However as a result the lenses are expensive. These rudy's wont be so pricey if you get the standard lenses. Im not sure what the specs of the lenses are. Polarized lenses are a big plus when it comes to uv protection, however this makes the lens expensive too. Another element that will make lenses expensive is the amount of distortion they cause. Ideally you wouldn't want any defraction of the image when you look through a lens, and a lot of technology has gone into improving this facet of lenses. With regards to protection from tactile elements such as dust and wind, safety glasses do the trick. You want the wrap around effect so that all areas of your eyes are protected. Lenses that are strong and virtually shatterproof are a big plus so that you dont get shards of lens in your eye. Then there are various other aspects when it comes to choice of glasses. Comfort. Fit. Ventilation. Style etc etc But basically when it comes down to protection from various sun rays (not only uv) and tactile elements, you will pay slightly more than safety glasses. These are two pics of these awesome glasses i just took about 1 minute apart. After taking the first one I stepped outside for 30 seconds, came back in and took the 2nd one. Impressive stuff.
