Defintely seems the same lot are involved, i'm hope the police have now established there appears to be a pattern (sometimes takes them awhile))and will take action.

More secure trails seem the way to go.

Good work Ryan. Sorry to hear that you did not get your bike back. The fact that shoes and helmets are being taken could mean that somebody in the know is behind all this. Will keep my eye out for your bike. Can you post a pic?

Red plastic bottle cage, Knog Saddle bag, broken Cateye mount, Brontrager seatpost etc.

Those *%&$ b@stards!

Ali and Ryan, glad you guys are ok.. I must say though that I would be devastated if someone 'relieved me' of my bike.

These attacks seem to be occuring on the 'Paulshof' side of the spruit. Does anyone know of any incidents from Republic Rd towards Emmarentia?

It seems the N1 highway is the favourite escape route. Once they get onto the highway they can run against the flow of traffic and it is very difficult to follow them. My guess would be they then head up towards Alex and dissapear into the township.

In Ali's case that area has long been a hijack hotspot with lots of vagrants living in the bush. I thought that with the clearing and fencing of the bike park it would have improved. The whole of Main Road down towards Lonehill is still a no go area, I have personally witnessed several smash and grabs at the robot cnr of Witkoppen and Main.

My wife and I rode between Republic Rd and Emmarentia on Saturday to avoid the northern section where the incidents have occurred. We had no problems, but were very wary which isn't much fun. Seems they usually target cyclists riding alone.

Glad Ryan and Ali weren't harmed. We need to sort these rodents out! I am seeing the Randburg Police MTB Unit guys today and will see what feedback they can give me on this.

There was a stage when the area below Old Parks was a favourite amongst hi-jackers but seems to have been quiet for a while.

I find traffic a bit heavier south of William Nicol whereas on the Northern side by Paulshof it is a bit quieter.

Alberts Farm used to be a problem. Mellville Kooies is somewhere guys need to be aware of.

Ryan' date=' what time was your jacking on Saturday.

I thought to myself that the spruit was to busy for there to be a jacking on the weekend. Obviously not!!!

15h45 - I was just doing a very quick loop to check my bike was in order before heading off to Parys for Sunday's short Crater Cruise. I'd just turned at the river before the N1 and was 10m short of the 12th Avenue bridge.

Will do Ryan. Please PM me your contact details which I can then pass on to them. You are the first victim that's actually a Hubber. We had no way of contacting the victims of last week's attacks.

Hey Pickled, perhaps you should get your friend to give the details of his attack to the SAPS too (if he hasn't already done so)... I imagine the more reported attacks, the more attention the solution will receive
